Add Fourth of July flair to your patio party

July 4th Party Blog PhotoIs there a better holiday to spend in your outdoor living area than the Fourth of July?

In a word, no. Independence Day is a day best spent with family and friends celebrating all of the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. And what better place to celebrate than a beautiful, relaxing outdoor space made for just such an occasion?

At Boxley Block, Brick and Hardscape Center, we want you to enjoy your backyard patio to the fullest extent this Fourth of July. Here are some ideas for hosting the best patio party:

  1. Make your space festive: It’s easy and fun to make your outdoor space pop with red, white and blue. Line the area with small American flags or use holiday-themed throw pillows for your patio furniture. If fireworks will be part of your festivities, line retaining walls with blankets for extra seating for your guests.
  2. Pitch a tent: Be prepared for the elements – rain or shine – by putting up a tent over the open paver portion of your outdoor space. You can dress up a dining table under the covering by creating a patriotic centerpiece using small flags or pinwheels.
  3. Relish the holiday food: A big part of any holiday gathering is the food made in your outdoor kitchen. Create a simple but memorable menu by incorporating some red, white and blue into the mix with these parfaits – the strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and whipped cream add the perfect coloring for dessert. For the main course, you can’t go wrong with an all-American choice: the burger.
  4. Warm up by the fire: Create a natural, warm space for guests to gather before or after the rockets’ red glare with a firepit or fireplace. This focal point of your space will keep your guests cozy well after the sun goes down.
