Build a Better Future in the Masonry Industry

Masonry jobs allow workers to make a good living for themselves and their families with competitive pay and excellent benefits that provide Virginians with peace of mind in knowing their future is secure.

According to the construction industry advocacy group Build Your Future Virginia, there is a demand for more than 250,000 craft labor jobs in the state, including nearly 20,000 in the masonry field.  Masons work with brick, concrete blocks and natural stones to build attractive, durable structures and surfaces.

In Virginia, a skilled mason can expect to earn more than $40,000 annually. Workers can get their education in a manner of ways, including technical school, community college, registered apprenticeship programs and industry training programs.

Boxley is part of the Blue Ridge Masonry Association, an organization dedicated to promoting the industry and developing the skilled labor force the region needs to meet demand. This year we hosted two seven-week Masonry 101 courses to promote the trade in both our Roanoke and Lynchburg locations.

We further promote the trade through our membership with the Southeast Concrete Masonry Association, which provides many resources to further the industry throughout the entire region.

Boxley is also backing the Virginia Masonry Association’s Masonry Apprenticeship Training Program, a three-year accredited program recently approved by the state.
